We thank Allah who enabled us to publish this masterpiece. This edition of Holy Qur’an was written in Rayhan which is considered one of the most beautiful calligraphy of Iranian and Islamic handwriting dating back to 1000 years ago. One of the earliest Qur’ans in this decorative handwriting was produced by Ebn-e-Bawab in 969 (391A.H). Of course, since that time, many other samples of Qur’an were written in this style of calligraphy.
Lettering of Qur’an is commonly considered as a mystic worship in the history of Islam and many well-known calligraphists have spent their lives in producing splendid transcripts of Qur’ans. This art has so far won widespread respect among other branches of arts in the world.
Furthermore, calligraphy is known as a sacred art in Islam.
The present Qur’an is written and decorated by the master Bahram Saleki within 8 years. He has been involved in lettering and illuminating of Qur’an for 21 years. He was born in Tehran in 1957 and is a scarce artist who has succeeded in writing of two remarkable Qur’ans, one in Pir Amooz Kufid and the other in Rayhan styles. Saleki, has revived many designs and decorative patterns which are deeply rooted in the illumination history of Iran and Islamic community as a whole. He has employed these designs with admirable profession to adorn magnificent verses of the Holy Qur’an. The publication of this superb Qur’an has begun since 4 years ago using all possible facilities which exist in Iran. The publication of Qur’an is extremely difficult and requires high precision. Since any error causes wrong reading and assumption of divine verses, the utmost attention has been rendered in placing vocal tracts of lettering in this work to ensure that the text is free from any error to the maximum possible. In the meantime, the vocal tracts in different colors exceptionally facilitate the reading.
Another particularity of this exquisite work is due to the use of beautiful medallions on the margins, each of which is decorated with a variety of pleasing colors. The beginning of each chapter of Qur'an contains a beautiful epigraph with its new and interesting patterns which delight the reader. All these aesthetic senses by the words of the Allah are just very little representation of His manifestations. And now, we are thankful to the Allah who enabled us to publish His words, the most excellent words quoted by the great messenger, Mohammad (P.B.U.H), to direct and pacify bewildered spirit of the man. We owe a measure of thanks to all our colleagues in Moballeghan Publishing and Rayhan Film Company who assisted us in printing such a great work. We are also grateful to professors, Dr. Seyyed Hossein Nasr and Dr. Baha'oddin Khorramshahi for publishing comprehensive research oriented texts.
