At the age of forty, he is definitely a unique
contemporary personality, from the progeny of craftsmen whose luminant
art, and their good nature, is
the pride of history of fine arts and artificers.
Continuing with his mission, he has now completed thirteen years
of another unrelenting endeavour. He has singly committed himself
to a task which has never been possible unless a group of first-class
masters, in different fields of speciality, were to join, and if
they were to benefit un-ending moral and material support of governments.
Even in the exquisite and splendiferous history of the Iranian Islamic
fine arts, such an art work has only occurred scarcely.
In short, his painstaking work resulted in creation of the Aqiq
Qur'an. An everlasting masterwork which is undoubtedly the greatest
work during the luminous sacred arts in the area of book adornment
for the "Word of Allah" by one person. Today, Saleki is
famous and favourite in the art of pointillism painting. His limited
but diversified drawings in this area with the Glorious Aqiq Qur'an
has been the grace of exhibition halls in recent years.
Ustad Bahram Saleki has recently initiated another great work with
quite a poetic sensation and original thought, called Muraqqa-e
Janan (The Lovers Scrapbook). His charming fingers have crystallised
the most blessing, most translucid, most musing noble verses of
the Glorious Qur'an, Divine aphorisms, in addition to the poetic
delicacies and choice sonnets, in separate tablet, each being decorated
with one of the most beautiful names of Almighty Allah as the title.
We have seen some fifty, out of a hundred, such tablets by now.
Even with these few pieces, once again Saleki has proved, by creation
of such splendiferous artistry, that gifted artists are blessed
with Allah's special endowment, and that the luminous Islamic art
reaches its utmost perfection when intellectual and spiritual movements
of the jubilant Islamic tradition exist with zealotry and vivacity.
To produce these tablets, various aspects of fine arts such as
calligraphy, illumination, miniature, painting, and hair-brush calligraphy
have been utilised within an Irfanic tonality. Here, the artist
has managed to present another magnificent production to the august
history of the fine arts of the Islamic Iran. |
